I'm not trying to trash the gym at all, it's just you see so many people say you can't develop technique by yourself and you need to join a gym, but it doesn't feel any different so far? Also the sparring isn't particularly light, after training there for a short amount of time I ended up with a fractured sternum and a traumatic pneumothorax from a teep from a guy that was a good 20Kg heavier than me. I want to go back and was planning on returning to that gym, however, after talking to a friend that's a boxer he said he wouldn't go back and that I should try and find somewhere else. This gym is also quite well known for being a good MMA gym locally as far as I'm aware and the class times work great for me. However, my friend said I'm not developing real technique there and shouldn't be sparring yet. If I was to go to the sessions and skip the sparring I'd be paying £80 a month and be missing like 50% of all striking sessions. What do you guys think?
